The Intern Program
The Chicago Humanities Festival (CHF) welcomes students and recent graduates to gain professional experience in a nonprofit cultural institution. CHF believes in challenging interns with relevant, interesting projects and making them full members of the Festival team. Interns leave CHF with a practical appreciation for the demands and rewards of nonprofit work.

Internship Concentrations
CHF internships are project-based and vary based on the program cycle and needs of the organization. While all intern projects involve inter-departmental collaboration, each intern project has a specific concentration as outlined below.
Education interns assist with the development of educational resource material for year-round and Festival Education programs; assist with program development and marketing for education programs, including writing weekly blog posts; provide administrative support for the education department’s teacher professional development, and participating in weekly Program meetings.
Marketing interns assist marketing and website staff with the preparation and upload of all web content related to the 2012 fall festival; assist with the distribution of printed materials; assist with the creation and development of Festival event-related communication, including PowerPoint slideshows, printed programs; and participate in Marketing staff meetings.
Program/Production interns support the creation and realization of public programs within a nonprofit cultural institution, specifically supporting the fall 2012 Festival. Projects may include editing biographical information for presenters; creating appropriate web links for fall Festival programs; maintaining detailed records of presenter contact and communication; tracking program logistics; providing logistical support at programs, administrative tasks including database maintenance, filing, and mailings; and participating in weekly Program meetings.
Web Content interns work on the Festival’s comprehensive on-line humanities journal. Projects include creating multimedia content from video and/or audio captured from past Festival programs; entering and maintaining current web content.
