The Chicago Humanities Festival (CHF), a unique celebration of urban culture and the life of the mind, produces a major annual Festival of ideas and a series of events and educational programs throughout the year. CHF’s fall Festival features more than 100 public events at 19 venues around Chicago. CHF promotes the humanities as central to civic life and an educated citizenry. Collaborating with many of Chicago’s major cultural and educational institutions, CHF has an international reputation for innovation and creativity, featuring an exceptional roster of speakers, performers, and visual artists. Tickets for most Festival programs are $5 and many programs have tickets available free of charge to students and teachers.
Position Description:
Patron Services Representatives will be the voice of CHF during this year’s 21st Annual Festival: The Body. CHF’s box office team must clearly articulate programs and events to patrons, members, and the general public. These part-time, seasonal positions start September 7, 2010 and end November 12, 2010, with some weekend availability required. Training and orientation will be the first week of September. Regular business hours are Monday through Friday 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Saturdays 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Some weekend and evening hours will also be available during the Festival, October 24 and November 2 – 14, 2010.
Responsibilities:
• Acting as a representative of CHF
• Providing excellent customer service over the phone and in person
• Processing ticket orders for over 100 programs by taking calls, processing payments, and printing and mailing tickets
• Carefully and accurately maintaining and updating all customer records into CHF’s patron database and ticketing system
• Expanding our Membership program by educating our audience about its benefits
• Assisting the Manager of Audience Development and CHF administrative staff on projects as assigned.
