Founded in 1959, The Second City has established itself as a Chicago landmark and a national treasure. The theater launched the careers of such comic greats as John Belushi, Mike Myers, Bill Murray, Gilda Radner and such recent talents as Tina Fey, Steve Carell, and Stephen Colbert. The theater now has two resident Chicago stages, The Second City Mainstage and the Second City e.t.c., each housing a resident troupe that writes and performs original comedy revue.
Barbara Ehrenreich is the author of thirteen books, including the New York Times bestsellers Nickel and Dimed and Bait and Switch. A frequent contributor to the New York Times, Harper's Bazaar, and the Progressive, she is also a contributing writer to Time magazine. Ehrenreich is also the winner of the Nation Institute/Puffin Foundation Prize for Creative Citizenship. Her most recent book is This Land is Their Land, a collection of her published columns. She lives near Washington D.C.
