Is the Bible’s most tragic book actually funny? Radio personality and self-described “Torah maven” Aaron Freeman ferrets out the belly laughs in the tale of history’s longest-suffering hero. Job’s litany of anguish and over-the-top misery are rife with comedic possibilities, though Freeman also helps us see the story’s poignancy and spiritual depth. Freeman and his wife, artist Sharon Rosenzweig, publish the popular and controversial online weekly cartoon series The Comic Torah. A stand-up comedian, Freeman is also a member of the quartet The Israeli/Palestinian Comedy Tour, a commentator for NPR’s All Things Considered, and a frequent performer with The Second City.
