Dwight A. McBride is a leading African American cultural theorist and dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago. For this program he joins a panel of scholars to consider questions of race and sexuality. Their focus on the debate over sexual equality in the African American community may raise such difficult questions as the supposed homophobia of black culture and the possible homologies between the civil rights movement and the current struggle for gay rights.
