    Jonathan Alter is an award-winning columnist, television analyst and author. Since 1991, Alter has written a widely-acclaimed Newsweek column that examines politics, media and social and global issues. For more than a decade, he has worked as a contributing correspondent to NBC News. His 2006 book, The Defining Moment: FDR's Hundred Days and the Triumph of Hope, was a national bestseller. As an editor, he helps shape the magazine's overall news coverage.

    Charles M. Madigan spent forty years in journalism before joining Roosevelt University in Chicago as Presidential Writer- in-Residence. He has worked as senior correspondent for the Chicago Tribune and the editor of the Tribune's "Perspective" section.     Markos Moulitsas Zúniga is founder and publisher of Daily Kos, the largest progressive community blog in the United States.     Lynn Sweet is the Washington Bureau Chief for the Chicago Sun-Times. She writes a column and a blog for the paper. She has covered politics and government from Chicago's street brawls to the White House. A Chicago native, she holds a master's from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkeley. In 2007 Sweet was inducted into Medill's Hall of Achievement and the Chicago Journalism Hall of Fame.

    Laura Washington is the Ida B. Wells-Barnett University Professor at DePaul University, contributing columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times, and a senior editor for In These Times magazine. The former editor and publisher of The Chicago Reporter, she served as deputy press secretary to Harold Washington. Washington is an award-winning journalist who has covered local and national politics for more than two decades. Her work has been widely featured in the national media, including Time, Newsweek, and the New York Times.
