Tricia Rose was born and raised in New York City. She graduated from Yale University where she received a BA in sociology and then received her PhD from Brown University in American studies. She has taught at NYU, UC Santa Cruz and is now professor of Africana studies and member of the governing board for the Cogut Center for the Humanities at Brown University.
