Catherine Russell: American Songbook in Concert
About the Event:
Join us for an evening with Grammy Award-winning vocalist Catherine Russell as she performs dazzling new interpretations of jazz classics. Russell has toured on four continents, earning universal acclaim. She's been a hit at major jazz festivals including Newport, Montreal, and Tanglewood; and her shows have sold out venues like The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., Jazz at Lincoln Center, and Carnegie Hall in New York. She’s also been a guest on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, as well as NPR's Fresh Air and World Café.
Her repertoire features a selection of gems from the 1920s through the present; vital interpretations, bursting with soul and humor. With an off-the-beaten-path song selection, sparkling acoustic swing, and a stunning vocal approach, Russell has joined the ranks of the greatest interpreters and performers of the American Songbook.
This event is presented in partnership with the Old Town School of Folk Music and is generously underwritten by the Helen B. and Ira E. Graham Family.
