Music That Lasts: Maude Maggart and the American Songbook
About the Event:
Maude Maggart went to her first cabaret show as a teen. “I’d never seen anything like it,” she says. “It was so magical and special, what could happen in a little room.” Since her own cabaret debut in 2001, the room has gotten much bigger. Maggart has played more than a few famous venues (e.g., Lincoln Center, the Hollywood Bowl, A Prairie Home Companion, New York’s Algonquin Hotel), gathered critical accolades, and wooed a large and incredibly loyal following. Beloved for her sensitive, intelligent interpretations as much as for her striking voice and out-of-time style, she brings fresh life to American songbook and cabaret classics. Joining Maggart for this hour-long concert is pianist John Boswell.
