Renée Fleming: Music and Mind

The impact of music and the arts on health and human experience

About the Event:

Winner of five Grammys, the prestigious Kennedy Center Honor, and the US National Medal of Arts, Renée Fleming is one of the most highly acclaimed singers. Fleming is also an advocate for research intersecting the arts, health and neuroscience. A compelling and growing body of research has shown music and arts therapies to be effective tools for addressing a widening array of conditions. As Artistic Advisor to the Kennedy Center, Renée launched the first ongoing collaboration between America’s national cultural center and the National Institutes of Health. Join Renée and Kelly Leonard, Vice President of Second City, for a fascinating view into the research on the impact of creative arts on human health as inspired by her new anthology, Music and Mind: Harnessing the Arts for Health and Wellness and her Music and the Mind program that Renée has presented in over fifty cities around the world.

A book signing will follow this program.
