Writing in Exile: A Conversation with Jennifer Egan and Aleksandar Hemon
About the Event:
As part of our 30th Anniversary celebration, CHF is revisiting and re-envisioning some of the themes, presenters and ideas from previous Festivals. In 2005 we presented Home and Away, which explored ideas about place and belonging, and the desire for movement versus the force of dislocation. The recent waves of people forced from their homelands has us thinking about what it means to live in exile, particularly as a writer. In partnership with PEN America and its President, the Pulitzer-prize winning and Chicago-born writer Jennifer Egan, along with novelist Aleksandar Hemon, we bring you a conversation about what it takes to secure the space and freedom to write, even in exile, as well as the current threats to freedom of expression.
This program is available to Teen Arts Pass holders. To purchase a ticket using your Teen Arts Pass, you must call the box office at (312) 605-8444.
This program is presented in partnership with PEN American Center.
