Power
What is power? Is it the ability to command others? To rally crowds? To exercise authority? How does that compare to contemporary figures of power such as the social media ‘influencer,’ with her millions of followers and slew of endorsements? Or the power of three largely unknown individuals—Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza and Opel Tometi—the founders of #blacklivesmatter, who by coming together started a conversation heard round the world about race and social justice. Or the power of one individual (e.g. Steve Jobs, Elon Musk, Bill Gates) to dream big and fundamentally change how we engage with and live in our world? How have new technologies transformed human power, in the direction of good or bad, progress or extinction?
