As part of CHF's Neighborhood Initiative program Filmmaking On The South Side, we discussed the development of community-based film resources and infrastructure on the South Side, as well as how Chicago’s film scene is evolving to particularly support local women and nonbinary Black and brown artists.

Change the Name

Change the Name chronicles the grassroots campaign to rename Douglas Park—named after Stephen A. Douglas, an enslaver—to Douglass Park, after abolitionist Frederick Douglass and his wife Anna.

"if just for a moment, eutopia"

"If just for a moment, eutopia" is an episode of the South Side Home Movie Project, which compiles various home movies made by residents of Chicago’s South Side. The series presents a montage of home movies showcasing Black joy and community amidst the racial turmoil of the 1960s.
