Scott Falk

IN MEMORIAM

SCOTT FALK, BOARD CHAIR

The Chicago Humanities Festival mourns the loss of our dear friend and supporter, Board Chair R. Scott Falk.

Scott was a passionate humanist. He was dedicated to the power of the humanities to changes hearts, minds and lives. He was committed to the Chicago Humanities Festival family and to ensuring our success. And, maybe most importantly, he always had time for a smile, a quick note of support, or a long conversation following a Festival program (of which he saw many). It was in his DNA to be generous and supportive to the individuals and causes he loved.

Scott was, stated simply, an incredible human being who lived his life fully. He nurtured a loving family—both of his children remained in Chicago for college, which made Scott extremely happy and a proud parent. He built an incredibly successful legal career at Kirkland & Ellis, serving as a mentor to many of the firm’s associates. Beyond the Festival, he was an active civic leader, most recently serving on the National Philanthropic Board of the American Red Cross and Harvard Law School’s Leadership Council.

He will be deeply missed by all of us at the Festival and so many others across the city. He is survived by wife Kimberly Anne Falk and his two children.
